Someone wants to borrow your thing

When somebody asks for one of your things you get an email, and the request appears under Asked of you in that group.

Saying yes

Press Yes… and you get one short form before it is final. Both fields are optional — you can just press the button again and be done.

  • When can they collect it? Plain words. "After 6 on Thursday", "any time this weekend", "I'm out Tuesday but the shed is open". There is no calendar picker here on purpose, because none of those sentences fit in one.
  • Anything else — where it lives, what to bring, the gate code.

Whatever you write goes straight into the borrower's email. It is the most useful line in that message, so it is worth ten seconds.

Saying yes books the thing out for the dates that were agreed.

Saying no

Press No. Nothing is created, the borrower is told, and that is the end of it. You do not owe anybody a reason, though a word about better dates usually helps more than silence.

If two people ask for the same week

The first yes wins, and the second one is refused — not by a warning you could click through, but by the database itself. You will see a message saying the dates clash.

The second request stays pending, deliberately. You can still agree different dates with that person rather than having to start again.

What Kithage does not do

It does not chase anybody, it does not hold a deposit, and it never decides who is right when something comes back broken. Your group's own liability policy is shown on the group page, and it is between the people in it. Kithage keeps the record of who has what — the rest is yours.
