Terms of use
Version 2026-09-03, effective 3 September 2026. Plain English on purpose — terms nobody reads protect nobody.
The short version
Kithage is a list, not a party to your arrangements. We show your group what its members own and who has borrowed what. Everything else — the handover, the condition it comes back in, the conversation if it doesn't — happens between you and people you already know.
We never take possession of an item. We never take a cut. There are no payments, deposits or escrow. Kithage is the venue, not the deal.
Kithage is for people who already trust each other
This is not a marketplace and it is not for meeting strangers. There is no map, no public search, and no way to browse other people's things. You reach a group by being invited to it by someone already in it.
That is the entire safety model. Before you invite someone, ask yourself whether you would lend them something without an app involved. If the answer is no, an invite will not change that — it only tells them what your group owns.
What we are not responsible for
To the fullest extent the law allows, Kithage is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. In particular we are not responsible for:
- Items. Anything lent, borrowed, damaged, lost, stolen or never returned. We do not inspect, verify, insure or guarantee anything listed here, and we never hold it.
- People. Who your group invites, how they behave, and whether they are who they say they are. Membership is decided by your group, not by us.
- Injury or damage. Anything that happens while an item is used, including items that are faulty, unsafe or unsuitable for what someone used them for.
- Your data and images. While we take reasonable care, we do not guarantee that content is never lost, corrupted or exposed. Keep your own copies of anything you would miss.
- Communications. What members say to each other, here or anywhere else, and any agreement they reach.
- Availability. The service may be interrupted, changed or discontinued at any time.
Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Liability policies are your group's, not ours
A group can agree how breakages are handled — forgive, replace at cost, or split. Kithage records that choice and enforces none of it. It is a note about what you have agreed between yourselves, not a contract we are party to, and we will never arbitrate a dispute or decide who owes what.
Things not to list
Do not list firearms or weapons; alcohol, tobacco, cannabis or controlled substances; prescription medicines or medical devices; car seats, cots or infant sleep products; recalled products; motor vehicles; live animals; or anything requiring a licence to operate.
Take particular care with anything that can injure someone — power tools, ladders, chainsaws. Say plainly what condition it is in, and don't lend something you know to be faulty.
Your account
You must be 18 or older. Keep your password to yourself, use a real email address you can receive mail at, and tell us if you think someone else has got into your account.
You can delete your account at any time. Deleting an item removes it and its photos everywhere.
Your content
Your photos and descriptions stay yours. You give us only the permission needed to run the service — to store your content, resize your images, and show them to the groups you have listed the item in. Nothing more, and we do not sell anything or use your content to advertise.
Reporting
If someone is behaving badly, tell the group owner first — they can remove a member immediately. For anything the group cannot handle, or anything unlawful, contact us.
Changes
These terms may change. Material changes will be announced in the app. If you keep using Kithage afterwards, that is your acceptance.
